Company History
Mr. James H. Pritchett, MAI, founded "Pritchett & Company" in 1954.
In January 2002, Mr. Pritchett, one of the appraisal industry’s best-respected practitioners and educators, passed after an extended illness. Shortly thereafter, the Appraisal Institute established the annual James H. Pritchett Award "In recognition of an outstanding contribution to the appraisal profession in the area of education and professional development."
The successor company, Pritchett, Ball & Wise, Inc. ("PBW"), has greatly expanded its range of professional services over the past six decades, and is now actively engaged in the professional practice of real property appraisal and consultation services. Supplementing, then replacing Mr. Pritchett's lead in providing litigation support, Mr. Henry J. Wise, MAI, CBA/BVAL, continued expanding the firm's presence within the legal community until his retirement in 2008.
Joe W. Ball, MAI, began with the firm in 1971 and retired in December 2014.
Current Principals of the firm include George S. Petkovich, MAI, CCIM, and, Andy D. Sheppard, MAI.
George S. Petkovich, MAI, CCIM
George S. Petkovich, MAI, joined the firm in 1996. Mr. Petkovich earned the Master of Science in Real Estate (MSRE) Degree from Georgia State University in 1994 and became a principal in the firm in 2001.
Mr. Petkovich earned his MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute in 2004 and the CCIM designation in 2006. Mr. Petkovich has been active in the Atlanta Area Chapter of the Appraisal Institute, serving in multiple roles including Chairman of the Associate Leadership Committee, Chairman of the Membership Development and Retention Committee, Regional Representative and serving on the Board of Directors. George also attended the Leadership Development and Advisory Council in Washington, D.C.

Andy D. Sheppard, MAI
Mr. Sheppard joined Pritchett, Ball & Wise, Inc. in 1998 and became a principal and Vice President of the firm in 2011. Mr. Sheppard is a graduate of the real estate program of Georgia State University and received the Appraisal Institute’s MAI designation in 2007.
Since becoming designated, Mr. Sheppard has served in various leadership roles for the Appraisal Institute, including Alternate Regional Representative (2009-2010); Regional Representative (2011-2012); and Chairman of the Associates Guidance Committee (2009-2010 and 2011-2012); Director for the Atlanta Chapter of the Appraisal Institute (2012-2013); and, Chairman of Candidate Guidance (2013). Mr. Sheppard was selected to attend the Leadership Development Advisory Council in Washington, D.C. in 2013, 2016 and 2017. Mr. Sheppard was also selected for the Atlanta Area Chapter's leadership chain, which begins with holding the offices of Treasurer (2014); Secretary (2015); Vice President (2016) and President (2017). Mr. Sheppard also serves the Appraisal Institute on a national level as a Final-Level Experience Review Screener, which is one of the final requirements for Candidates pursing the Appraisal Institute's designations.
Mr. Sheppard initially provided litigation support for the firm’s former Partner, Henry J. Wise, MAI, CBA/BVAL, and has transitioned into providing litigation support and consultation services since Mr. Wise’s retirement in 2008. In addition to his experience with a variety of office, retail, industrial and unimproved properties, Mr. Sheppard has a special interest in atypical property types and investments such as quarries, low-income tax-credit multifamily housing, special-purpose properties, contamination issues and diminution in value resulting from external sources.
